I did some quite exciting things this summer. I went across the country with the Lindsay Excursion Club. We visited Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia while passing several states along the way. It was amazing that I had the chance to go to such heart-felting places. I also had the chance to pay a visit to places in Northern California with my close family. I like to call them my “close family” because I have always felt close to them. My Godparents have always treated me as if i was their child and their daugher and I were somewhat raised as sisters. We went to Monterey and Santa Clara but returned because of the start of school.
Monday August 17,2015 was the first day of school but, more importantly senior year. I finished all my classes from my junior year on time and with a 3.8 grade point average. It’s exciting that the end is near. I’m on pace to graduate and decided to take challenging classes this year. I’m taking AP Biology, Pre-Calculus, and Physics. This year, I’m looking forward to the senior activities and to all the rallies. However, it’s hard to think about all the extra work this last year requires.
On top of all of our classes we need to do our senior project, exit interview and at least have an idea about what we want to do with our lives after high school. I do want to go to college and study something in the medical field. Living with only my mom, she does not like the idea of me leaving off to college. She would prefer that I stay and go to community college, or go somewhere close like Fresno State or to CSU Bakersfield. Although, I want to leave and experience the world on my own. I know that when the time comes, she will be supportive as always and realize that is the way I will make her dream come true. Her dream is for me to become a doctor.
Growing up, I always wanted to be a Pediatrician. I did not mind going to school for eleven more years after high school. I really wanted to become one. Yet, being a Pediatrician does not interest me anymore. Today, taking x-rays and drawing blood (but mostly taking x-rays) really appeals to me. I am thinking about going on to become a Radiology Technician first, and then a Radiologist. A Radiology Technician is the person who takes the x-rays. A Radiologist, who has a Dr. Degree, is the person who analyzes the x-rays. I feel that getting a Dr. Degree will be enough to satisfy my mom’s dream.
My goal for this year is to finish everything on time (or even earlier, before the due dates), know what I truly want to do/become and of course, have fun while throughout the year. Still, my main goal is to figure out what I want to do with my life, where I want to go, and what I want to become.
