It is half way through the first semester already. I’m feeling so overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done in a matter of weeks. There are so many assignments that need to be turned in daily. Back in September and October, I was always busy with tennis and could not give my full attention on my school work. I would spend about 3-4 hours a day playing tennis, and that really got me off pace in a few classes. Now that tennis is over, I am finally able to focus on my classes. I’ve been turning more work in and starting to get back on pace for some classes.
The most challenging classes that I am currently enrolled in are Trigonometry and AP Biology. I understand the lessons in both classes and I understand the main concept of the topics. However, I do not pass the test or quiz when the time comes to show my understandings. Once I see the questions I missed, I immediately know what I did wrong and I know the right answer(s). Lately, I have been having more time to study, so now I have been getting better scores on my work overall.
College applications started back in October and most of them are due on November 30th. I have already applied to some colleges. I plan on applying to nine colleges in total. I already submitted an application to four different CSUs; CSU Monterey Bay, CSU Channel Islands, CSU Los Angeles and CSU Bakersfield. At the moment, I am working on completing my applications for four UCs. I am planning on applying to; UC Merced, UC Irvine, UC San Diego and UC Riverside. The ninth college I want to apply to is California Baptist College, a private college in Southern California. I am not nervous upon applying, but I am on hearing back. My mom does not want me to move away. She wants me to attend CSU Bakersfield and stay locally. Staying home does have its perks, however I want to experience living on my own.
I want to do early completion for the Senior Project. so far, I have almost everything I need to finish it. I already did my Job Shadow which is one of the biggest parts of project. The only thing that will get in my way from finishing early would be my pace in my classes. I need to get back on pace in all of my classes. To do so, I am going to do as much work as I can over the week of Thanksgiving break. I plan on finishing all of my missing assignments and fixing my low score assignments for AP Biology, Trigonometry, and Economics. Once the break is over, I plan on staying after school to retake tests and get lessons from the teachers.
This semester was overwhelming to me, but I know it is only going to get even more once the end is near.
